Pleso Prijevoz bus runs every 30 minutes to main bus station. Journey time: 25 minutes. Ticket: €4.
Split Airport to City
Airport bus to Riva waterfront. Journey time: 30 minutes. Ticket: €4.50. Taxis €25-35.
Dubrovnik Airport to Old Town
Atlas bus to Pile Gate. Journey time: 30 minutes. Ticket: €8. Taxis €25-30.

Ferry from Italy—Ancona, Bari, Venice to Split, Dubrovnik, Zadar (8-16 hours, from €50). Jadrolinija, Snav, GNV. Overnight crossings. Bring car or foot passenger.
Bus from neighboring countries—Ljubljana (Slovenia), Sarajevo (Bosnia), Belgrade (Serbia). Comfortable coaches, affordable. FlixBus, local operators.
Land borders: Slovenia (north), Hungary (northeast), Bosnia (east), Montenegro (south). All open, minimal waits. Schengen border with Slovenia.
Adriatic Highway (E65) runs entire coast—scenic drive from Slovenia to Montenegro. Stunning but slow on narrow sections.
Trains limited—Zagreb-Split route scenic but slow (5.5-8 hours). Bus faster, cheaper. Trains better for Austria/Hungary connections.

Croatia joined Schengen Area January 2023. US, Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, and many other passport holders can enter visa-free for tourism up to 90 days within any 180-day period.

Best way to explore Adriatic coast and Plitvice. Adriatic Highway scenic. Book ahead in summer.
🎫 Travel Pass Tip
No rail pass needed—buses cheaper and more convenient than trains. Ferry passes don't exist—pay per crossing.
🚋 Local Transportation
Zagreb has trams and buses—ZET system. €0.80-€4 tickets. Day pass €4. Purchase at kiosks.
Other Cities
- Split: Walkable Old Town. Local buses €2.
- Dubrovnik: Old Town pedestrian. Buses to hotels/beaches €2.
- Rijeka: Small city buses. €1.50 tickets.
Most Croatian old towns are pedestrian-only. Walking is primary transport. Comfortable shoes essential.

Recommended for Adriatic coast exploration. Adriatic Highway connects all coastal towns. Plitvice requires car.

Coastal roads packed July-August. Allow extra time. Parking difficult in Dubrovnik, Split old towns. Use park-and-ride or hotel parking.
