🇰🇳 Saint Kitts and Nevis — Download These First!
eBorder – St. Kitts & Nevis
EssentialThe official app to apply for and store your Electronic Travel Authorisation (eTA), required since May 2025 for most visitors. Also handles the online immigration and customs ED form. Apply up to 90 days before arrival. Fast-Track arrival lane available for app users. iOS and Android.
💡 Apply at least 24 hours before your flight — approval usually instant but allow time
Open knatravelform.knVisit St. Kitts & Nevis
EssentialOfficial tourism platform for both islands. Discover attractions, beaches, restaurants, and events. Brimstone Hill info, scenic railway schedules, festival calendars. Useful for planning activities on both St. Kitts and Nevis.
💡 Check the events calendar — Sugar Mas and the Music Festival have specific dates each year
Open stkittstourism.knXE Currency Converter
The Eastern Caribbean Dollar (XCD) is pegged to USD at 2.7:1, but exchange rates for other currencies fluctuate. XE gives you real-time rates offline. Helps when converting prices at local restaurants and markets that quote in EC dollars.
Open XE CurrencyThe primary communication platform in St. Kitts and Nevis. Tour operators, taxi services, guesthouses, and local contacts all use WhatsApp. Much more reliable than email for booking tours and confirming arrangements on both islands.
💡 Get your hotel and tour operators' WhatsApp numbers before arrival
Open WhatsApp✈️ Flight Search & Booking
Google Flights
Best overall flight search. Use the calendar view to find cheapest travel dates to SKB. Price tracking alerts are useful — flights to St. Kitts vary significantly by week, especially for UK and Canada departures.
Open Google FlightsSkyscanner
"Everywhere" search and whole-month view. Useful for finding whether it's cheaper to fly to St. Kitts via Miami, Antigua, or San Juan. Also good for Caribbean multi-island routing.
Open SkyscannerHopper
Predicts when flight prices will rise or drop. Set alerts for Miami–SKB or London–SKB routes and book at the right moment. Can save considerably on peak season fares.
Open HopperKiwi.com
Good for multi-island Caribbean routing — combines airlines that don't normally partner. Useful if you want to fly in via one Caribbean island and out via another.
Open Kiwi.comUse these apps to find the best prices — but book directly on the airline's website when possible. Third-party bookings cause headaches for changes and cancellations, especially important when connecting through Miami or Antigua for SKB flights.
🗺️ Navigation & Maps
Google Maps
EssentialWorks well on both islands. Download offline maps for St. Kitts and Nevis before arrival — mobile data can be patchy in the mountains and some rural areas. Useful for finding beaches, restaurants, and attractions. Most local businesses are listed.
💡 Download offline maps for both islands before leaving your accommodation's WiFi
Open Google MapsMaps.me
Detailed offline maps including hiking trails. Better than Google for rainforest trails on Mount Liamuiga and the Southeast Peninsula walking paths. Completely offline — essential for areas without mobile signal.
💡 Download before the Mount Liamuiga hike — trail accuracy is better than Google Maps
Open Maps.meRome2Rio
Plans island-to-island routes combining flights, ferries, and taxis. Useful for planning the St. Kitts–Nevis crossing or multi-island Caribbean itineraries. Shows times and approximate costs for each option.
Open Rome2RioUber / Bolt
Limited availability on St. Kitts — traditional taxis remain the main option. Check current app availability before relying on either. Taxi Association: +1 869-465-8487 (St. Kitts).
Open Uber🛏️ Accommodation & Comfort
Booking.com
Good selection of St. Kitts and Nevis hotels, resorts, and guesthouses. Free cancellation on many bookings. Screenshot confirmation — WiFi reliability varies. Book early for December–April peak season.
Open Booking.comAirbnb
Good villa and apartment options on both islands, often better value than resorts for groups of 4+. Some plantation estate properties list on Airbnb. Also offers local experiences and food tours.
Open AirbnbDayuse
Game-changerBook hotel rooms by the day for long layovers or early arrivals. Useful if your flight from SKB doesn't depart until evening — book a resort day use and spend the afternoon at the pool and beach rather than waiting at the airport.
Open DayuseHostelworld
Limited hostel options on St. Kitts and Nevis — the islands skew towards guesthouses and resorts rather than backpacker hostels. Worth checking for budget accommodation in Basseterre.
Open Hostelworld💬 Translation & Communication
Google Translate
English is the only language you need on St. Kitts and Nevis. Google Translate is still useful if you encounter any Caribbean Creole in signage or if you're island-hopping to French Caribbean neighbours like Guadeloupe.
Open Google TranslateThe main communication channel for everything from tour bookings to taxi requests. Local tour operators, restaurants, and guesthouses prefer WhatsApp over email or phone. Essential from day one.
Open WhatsApp🎒 On The Ground
Bounce
Store your luggage at hotels, cafes, or shops. Useful on checkout day when your flight isn't until evening — store bags and spend the afternoon at the beach instead of the airport.
Open BouncePackPoint
EssentialEnter your destination, dates, and activities — builds a packing list based on weather. Essential for Caribbean travel where you need sun protection, water gear, and light clothing but also rain cover for the mountains.
Open PackPointTripAdvisor
Useful for reading recent restaurant and attraction reviews. Helps identify current opening hours and whether places are still operating — Caribbean businesses change seasonally. Filter reviews by recency.
Open TripAdvisorWindy
Wind and weather app particularly useful for water activities. Check conditions before catamaran tours, snorkelling trips, or the ferry crossing to Nevis — the Narrows can be choppy when trade winds are strong.
Open Windy🎫 Activities & Experiences
Viator
Good selection of St. Kitts tours — Brimstone Hill, Scenic Railway, snorkelling trips, and island ATV tours. Read reviews, book with instant confirmation, and get mobile tickets.
Open ViatorGetYourGuide

Open GetYourGuideKomoot
Hiking and outdoor route planning with offline maps and turn-by-turn navigation. Useful for Mount Liamuiga and Southeast Peninsula trails on St. Kitts, and Nevis Peak approaches on Nevis.
Open KomootWithLocals

Open WithLocals💳 Payment & Money

💡 App & Tech Tips for Saint Kitts and Nevis
- Mobile data: Digicel and Flow are the main carriers. Buy a local SIM at the airport or in Basseterre for data — tourist SIMs available from around USD 10–20 for a week's data. EU roaming does not apply here.
- WiFi: Available at most hotels, resorts, and larger restaurants. Quality varies — plantation inns may have slower connections. Download what you need before heading into the mountains or remote beaches.
- Power: UK-style Type G plug sockets (3-pin square). US visitors need an adapter. Voltage is 230V. Bring a universal adapter.
- Screenshot everything: eTA confirmation, hotel bookings, tour confirmations. Mobile data can be unreliable on the southern peninsula and Nevis mountain areas.
- Charge devices before ferry crossings: The 45-minute Nevis crossing is a good photo opportunity — make sure your camera and phone are charged.
- Offline is king: Download maps, guides, and confirmations before heading out. The Southeast Peninsula beaches and Mount Liamuiga trail have minimal mobile coverage.
