💡 Insider Tips

  • 🌊 Tara water is 8-12°C even in July—5mm wetsuits essential. You'll be cold first 10 minutes then body adjusts. Bring dry clothes, towel. Most operators have changing facilities
  • 💰 Book direct with local operators, not through coastal agents—save 20-30%. Žabljak has multiple rafting companies. Read reviews, compare. Quality varies
  • 📸 Waterproof phone cases fail—use operator's photo service or leave phone behind. GoPro photos/videos usually €10-20. Worth it—you'll be too busy to take own photos
  • 🗓️ May-June best for big rapids (high water). July-Aug calmer, crowded. September-October beautiful (autumn colors), quieter, still warm enough. Avoid weekends if possible
  • 🚗 Žabljak = adventure base. Stay 2-3 nights, do multiple activities. Rafting, canyoning, via ferrata, zip-line all within 30 minutes. Car essential—no public transport
