💡 App & Tech Tips for Uzbekistan
- Buy a SIM at Tashkent Airport: Ucell, Beeline, or UzMobile — tourist SIMs with 10–20 GB data cost $3–5. Required for Yandex Go and maps. Register with your passport.
- WiFi at hotels and guesthouses: Generally available but can be slow in older guesthouses. Don't rely on it for downloading large files. Cafes in Tashkent have good WiFi.
- Power banks are essential: Hot weather and heavy app use drain batteries quickly. Sockets are Type C (European). Bring adapter if from UK or North America.
- Screenshot train tickets and hotel confirmations: No need to rely on data connections at stations or remote guesthouses.
- Photography battery drain: You'll photograph everything. Bring a second battery or portable charger for full days sightseeing.
- VPN sometimes useful: Some Western services are occasionally slow. A VPN can help — download and set up before arrival.
