Beach & Sun Turkey

Your complete guide to Turkey's beaches, turquoise waters, and Mediterranean sun

You're on Ölüdeniz Beach. The water is impossibly blue—turquoise that doesn't look real. Six kilometers of white sand on the Mediterranean coast. It's midsummer—sun until 8pm, water a perfect 26°C.

Turkey's beaches surprise visitors: 1,000km of Mediterranean/Aegean coastline provide endless swimming spots, turquoise lagoons offer postcard perfection, and hidden coves bring secluded paradise.

From beach club culture in Bodrum to remote wilderness beaches in Lycia, Turkish 'beach life' is gulet cruises, clear water, and summer heat that never ends.

Peak season June-September. Warm water builds memories.

Mediterranean Coast Beaches—turquoise perfection

Turkey's Mediterranean coastline offers proper sandy beaches—Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon), Patara (18km endless sand), Kaputaş (dramatic canyon), İztuzu (turtle nesting).

Water temperature peaks at 24-28°C in July-August. Warm, clear, perfect. Foreign visitors swim happily—no courage needed.

Beach culture is vibrant—beach clubs, water sports, boat trips, long evening strolls. Ölüdeniz becomes a beach party on warm weekends.

Lycian coast (Fethiye to Antalya) has thousands of coves with small beaches, boat access, pure nature. Rent gulet, swim from deck, sunset at anchor.

Season long—May to October. April and November still warm enough for some. But that summer heat makes up for everything.

Blue Cruise Summer—gulet yacht culture

1,000km coastline. This is the real Turkish summer experience—rent a gulet (traditional wooden yacht) for a week, private coves, private swimming, private silence.

Mediterranean water cleaner and warmer than Aegean—up to 28°C in August. Swimming from gulet. Classic Turkish evening: anchor in cove, swim, dinner on deck, repeat.

Fethiye to Olympos (4 days classic route) is the epicenter—hidden coves, forested shores, gulet charters everywhere. Fethiye, Kaş, Kalkan are gateways.

Activities: swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, doing absolutely nothing. This is how Turks recharge. Relaxation is the point.

Book gulets early for July-August—peak season, everyone wants to cruise, boats fill, prices rise.

Beach Clubs and Coastal Life

Bodrum and Antalya offer proper beach club culture—DJ sets, sun loungers, cocktails, Mediterranean views. Day-to-night parties.

Turkish beach clubs are social—locals and tourists mix, music plays, vibe relaxed. Entry €10-30, includes sun lounger. Drinks extra.

Alaçatı on Aegean coast offers kitesurfing beaches—consistent winds April-October, beach clubs, stone town charm. Different vibe than Mediterranean.

Public beaches free everywhere—bring towel, umbrella, snacks. Beach clubs optional. Turks mix both—free morning, club afternoon.

Beach bars serve meze, grilled fish, raki. Sunset drinks essential. Turkish beach culture is social, food-focused, relaxed.

Kaputaş Beach sits in dramatic canyon—200 steps down, turquoise water, pebble sand. Small but stunning. Free access.

Patara Beach stretches 18km—endless sand, ancient ruins behind, protected area. Less developed, more authentic. Free entry.
