Open Travel Belize✈️ Flight Search & Booking
Google Flights
Best overall flight search to Philip Goldson International Airport (BZE). Price tracking, flexible dates. Miami, Houston, Dallas, Atlanta are the main hubs — use the calendar view to find cheapest connection days.
Open Google FlightsSkyscanner
"Everywhere" search shows cheapest destinations. Great for the European leg of the journey — find the best transatlantic route before connecting through the US to Belize. Whole-month search saves money.
Open SkyscannerHopper
Predicts when flight prices will rise or drop. Set alerts for your BZE route and book at the right moment. Can save significant money on international flights — especially Miami to Belize routes.
Open HopperMomondo
Compares results from multiple search engines. Sometimes finds deals the others miss. Always worth checking alongside Google Flights — especially for complex itineraries via Panama City or Cancún.
Open MomondoKiwi.com
Best for complex multi-city routes. Useful for building Europe–US–Belize itineraries that combine different airlines. Self-transfer option can find significant savings.
Open Kiwi.comUse these apps to find the best prices and routes — but book directly on the airline's website.
Why? Third-party bookings can cause headaches with:
- Customer service runaround
- Difficult changes & cancellations
- Lost perks and seat selection
- Complicated refunds
The few dollars you might save isn't worth the hassle when things go wrong.
🗺️ Navigation & Maps
Google Maps
EssentialWorks well in populated areas of Belize. Download offline maps for Ambergris Caye, Caye Caulker, San Ignacio, and Belize City before you travel — mobile data can be unreliable in jungle areas and on smaller islands.
💡 Download Cayo District offline — GPS essential for Caracol and Mountain Pine Ridge roads
Open Google MapsMaps.me
Detailed offline maps with hiking trails and jungle paths. Better than Google for remote areas — Mountain Pine Ridge, Caracol approach road, Cockscomb Basin. Completely offline. Essential backup for deep jungle navigation.
💡 Download Cayo and Toledo Districts offline before heading inland
Open Maps.meRome2Rio
Plans routes combining buses, boats, and domestic flights. Useful for complex Belize journeys — Belize City to Caye Caulker to San Ignacio, for example. Shows all options with approximate times and costs.
Open Rome2RioUber / Bolt
Uber operates in Belize City and some urban areas. Golf carts are the only transport on Ambergris Caye and Caye Caulker — ask your accommodation to arrange. On the mainland, agree taxi fares before entering the vehicle.
Open Uber🛏️ Accommodation & Comfort
Trip.com
Hotels, guesthouses and island resorts across Belize. Best for San Pedro, Caye Caulker, San Ignacio and Placencia. Free cancellation on many rooms. Screenshot all confirmations — Wi-Fi can be unreliable at check-in.
Open Trip.comAirbnb
Good for longer stays, especially in San Ignacio or Placencia where apartments and houses are available. Jungle lodges and island cabanas also list here. Great for finding weekly rates at significant discounts to nightly prices.
Open AirbnbHostelworld

Open HostelworldDayuse

Open Dayuse💬 Translation & Communication

Download Spanish language pack — useful in the Cayo District near the Guatemalan border and with local Spanish-speaking communities. Belize City and cayes are English-speaking but Spanish is common inland. Camera mode helpful for menus in some restaurants.
💡 English is official — you won't need translation for most travel in Belize
Open Google TranslateBelizeans rely on WhatsApp for communication. Tour operators, guesthouses, taxi drivers, and dive shops all prefer it. Essential for confirming tour bookings, getting pickup times, and checking water taxi schedules in real time.
Open WhatsApp🎒 On The Ground

Store luggage securely at partnered cafes and hotels. Useful in Belize City between airport arrival and your water taxi or domestic flight departure. Insured storage by the hour.

💡 App & Tech Tips for Belize
- Cash over cards: Belize runs primarily on cash. Most small restaurants, markets, and taxi drivers accept USD only. ATMs are in Belize City, San Ignacio, San Pedro, and Placencia — not everywhere. Bring plenty of USD.
- USD accepted at 2:1: You never need to exchange money. US dollars spend directly at exactly 2 BZD. Your change may come back in BZD — that's fine, spend it before you leave.
- Mobile data: Digicel and Smart (BTL) offer tourist SIM cards. BZ$25–50 for 5–10GB tourist plans. Coverage good on the cayes and in Belize City, patchy in Cayo District jungle, nearly nonexistent at Caracol.
- Screenshot everything: Tour confirmations, accommodation bookings, water taxi times. Mobile data drops out at the worst moments. The ATM Cave operator will want your booking reference on paper or as a screenshot.
- Power banks essential: Humid heat drains batteries fast. Bring a good power bank for long jungle days. Belize sockets are Type A/B (US standard) — US visitors need no adapter.
- Reef-safe sunscreen: Standard chemical sunscreens are harmful to Belize's reef. Many tour operators require biodegradable, reef-safe sunscreen. Brands like Stream2Sea and Raw Elements are available locally but buy before you travel.
